Royal Mail Packaging Sizes
Overview
This article explains how to configure packaging sizes for Royal Mail in StoreFeeder, with special attention to the difference in maximum thickness between UK Large Letters and International Flats.
Before you begin
Make sure you understand how StoreFeeder calculates packaging sizes. Review the "How to set up Packaging Sizes" article in the StoreFeeder knowledge base before proceeding.
Why two Large Letter sizes are needed
The maximum thickness for UK Large Letters is 25mm, but the maximum thickness for International Flats is 20mm. A package that is 23mm thick is classified as a Large Letter for domestic orders but as a Parcel for international orders.
To handle this, StoreFeeder provides two Royal Mail packaging size options for Large Letter products:
- Large Letter / Large Letter — for packages up to 20mm thick. Allocates Large Letter for domestic orders and Flats for international orders.
- Large Letter / Parcel — for packages between 21mm and 25mm thick. Allocates Large Letter for domestic orders and Parcel for international orders.

Configure packaging sizes for Large Letter products
- Go to Settings > Shipping Configuration > Packaging Sizes.
- Add a new packaging size for products that are 21–25mm thick (for example, name it Large Letter (21-25mm)). This size allocates Large Letter for UK orders and Parcel for international orders.

- Update the packaging size on all products that are 21–25mm thick to use the new size. You can set the packaging size for an individual product on the Additional Information tab of the Product Page, in the Size & Shipping Details section.
