Overview

This article explains the "Incomplete commodity description" errors that can appear when despatching FedEx international orders in StoreFeeder.

Cause

When despatching a FedEx international order, StoreFeeder sends commodity data to FedEx. If that data is missing or inconsistent, FedEx returns an error such as:

  • Incomplete commodity description 1
  • Incomplete commodity description 2

Solution

Check the following on the affected products:

  • HS code and item description must match. For example, if the HS code is for food but the item description says "makeup", FedEx will reject the despatch. Make sure the HS code accurately reflects what the item is.
  • Item descriptions must be sufficiently specific. Generic descriptions like "cosmetics" are too vague and will be rejected. Use a more specific description, such as "cosmetics - foundation".

Correct the product data in StoreFeeder and retry the despatch.
