Setting a default Barcode Validation Type
Overview
This article explains the barcode validation types available when picking a pickwave on the StoreFeeder app, and how to change the default validation level.
Validation types
When you create a pickwave, you can select a Barcode Validation Type to control how much confirmation is required before the picker can move to the next item. You can change this per pickwave to match the priority or value of the orders involved.
The default setting is None. The four available levels are:

1. Product — The picker scans a single unit of the product to confirm they have the correct item. The Next button appears once a correct scan is made.
2. Product Quantity — The picker must scan the exact quantity required. For example, if three units are needed, three separate scans are required before Next appears.
3. Location and Single Product — The picker must scan the correct location and then a single unit of the correct product. Next appears once both are scanned correctly.
4. Location and Product Quantity — This is Strict Mode. The picker must scan the location to confirm they are in the correct place, then scan each individual unit they are picking. If three units are required, three separate product scans are needed before Next appears.
Change the default validation type
To update the default that appears on the pickwave creation screen:
- Go to Settings > Warehouse Management > Despatch Mode.
Change the Barcode Validation Type setting.

- Select Save.
The new default applies to all future pickwaves. You can still override it on a per-pickwave basis from the pickwave creation page.
