Overview
This article explains how to configure your scanner for use with the StoreFeeder WMS app. For device-specific instructions, refer to the article for your scanner brand:
- M3 scanner configuration
- Datalogic scanner configuration
- Zebra scanner configuration
- Opticon scanner configuration
- Honeywell scanner configuration
- Seuic AutoID 9 scanner configuration
- Newland scanner configuration
How scanner configuration works
Configuration is a two-stage process:
- Enter the required settings in a scanner app or the device Settings app.
- Open the StoreFeeder WMS app and scan a test barcode to link the configuration.
Once configured correctly, you do not need to tap an input field or press Search when scanning a barcode. For example, on the Product Enquiry page you can scan a barcode and the search field populates and searches automatically.
Where to find the settings
Depending on your device, you enter the settings in one of two places:
- In the Settings app — look for a Barcode Settings menu or similar option.
- In a dedicated app — for example, ScanEmul on M3 devices or DataWedge on Zebra TC20.
Required settings
The exact settings vary by device (see the device-specific articles), but the general requirements are:
- Use Intent Output
- Intent Action:
com.sf.barcode.action - Intent Category:
com.sf.barcode.category(not available on all devices) - Intent Extra Barcode Data:
scannedbarcode(only set this if the field exists and has no value — not available on all devices) - Intent Delivery: Broadcast Intent
- If you can associate an app, select StoreFeeder WMS or
com.storefeeder.sfclassicmobileapp, and choose*for activities
Link the scanner to StoreFeeder
- Open the StoreFeeder WMS app.
- From the menu, go to Settings > On Device Scanner Configuration > I have updated the settings.
- Select I'm ready to scan and scan barcode
12345678. - A success message confirms the scanner is configured correctly.
