Overview

This guide covers the basics for configuring your scanner to work with the StoreFeeder WMS app. For device-specific instructions, refer to the relevant scanner configuration article for your hardware (M3, DataLogic, or Zebra scanners).

How scanner configuration works

A successful configuration means you do not need to tap into an input field or tap Search when scanning a barcode. For example, on the Product Enquiry page you can scan a barcode and the app immediately populates the search field and performs the search.

Configuration is a two-stage process:

  1. Apply the settings on the device (via a settings app or a dedicated scanning app).
  2. Confirm the configuration inside the StoreFeeder WMS app by scanning a test barcode.

Configuring the scanner

Depending on your device, the settings are entered either in the device Settings app (look for a Barcode Settings menu), or in a dedicated app such as ScanEmul (M3) or DataWedge (Zebra TC20).

Apply the following settings (exact option names may differ by device — see the device-specific articles):

  • Enable Intent Output
  • Set Intent Action to com.sf.barcode.action
  • Set Intent Category to com.sf.barcode.category
  • Set Intent Delivery to Broadcast Intent
  • If your device allows app association, select StoreFeeder WMS (or com.storefeeder.sfclassicmobile) with an asterisk for activities

Completing the setup in the app

Once the device settings are saved, open the StoreFeeder WMS app and go to:

Menu > Settings > On Device Scanner Configuration > I have updated the settings

Tap I'm ready to scan and scan a barcode for 12345678. A success message confirms the configuration is working.
