Overview

This article explains the In Transit location, which is available for accounts that use the StoreFeeder app for picking. It shows how stock movement is tracked from the pick location through to despatch.

How In Transit works

When you pick an item on the app, StoreFeeder records that the physical stock has moved from its pick location to your trolley, basket, or tote. This is shown as a move to the In Transit location.

  • When the items are despatched, the In Transit stock is removed from the product.
  • Because the system tracks this movement in real time, stock checks can run on locations at the same time as picking is in progress. The system always knows the physical stock level in each location.

If you see an In Transit location on a product, those items have been picked but not yet despatched.

Example walkthrough

An order for 2 units exists but is not yet assigned to a pickwave. The stock looks like this:

The order is allocated to a pickwave. Physical stock in location A1 is still 12, because the 2 units have not been picked yet:

The pickwave is opened on the app and the 2 units are picked from A1:

As soon as Continue is selected on the app, the 2 units are transferred from A1 to In Transit. Physical stock in A1 drops to 10, and In Transit shows 2:

Once picking is complete and the packer despatches the order, the In Transit stock is removed. Total stock moves from 12 to 10:
