Overview
This article explains how to create a variant product in StoreFeeder that uses pre-existing simple products as its child variants.
Before you begin
Every variation listing requires a parent product that acts as a container for the individual simple products. You cannot convert a simple product directly into a parent variant product, but you can create a new parent and then link your existing simple products to it.
Creating the parent variant product
- Go to Products > Manage Products > + New Product.
- Enter a Product Name and Product SKU, then set the Product Type to Variation.
- Select the Attribute Set that differentiates your child products and choose a Default Value.
- Select Create.
Adding existing simple products as variants
- On the General tab, locate the Product Variants section.
- Select Add Existing Product and enter the Product SKU of the simple product you want to add.
- Select + Add Existing Product to link it to the variant.
Each variant in the list has two options:
- Unlink — removes the child product from the variant without deleting it
- Delete — removes the child product and permanently deletes it
