Overview

This article explains how to create products in StoreFeeder, either by importing from your sales channel listings or from a spreadsheet.

Before you begin

It is highly recommended that you integrate your sales channels with StoreFeeder before creating products. Doing so makes it easier to import product data directly from your existing channel listings.

For guides on integrating each sales channel, see the Integrating Sales Platforms article.

Deciding how to create your products

You can create products in StoreFeeder in two ways:

  • From listings — download your existing channel listings and create products from them
  • From a spreadsheet import — format a file to match StoreFeeder's product format and import it

When deciding which approach to use, consider where you have the most complete and accurate data. If your best data is on eBay, create products from your eBay channel. If your best data is in a spreadsheet or product database, use the spreadsheet import method.

Note: A listing is different from a product. A product represents the item you are selling, while a listing is the page on which you sell it. For more information, see the Mapping Listings article.

Creating products from listings

  1. Go to Settings > Integration Manager > Edit/View integration > Channel Detail.
  2. Scroll to the Stock Management section and turn on Automatic Listing Download.

  1. Click Download Listings Now to trigger the listing import.

Warning: Depending on the number of listings, the import may take a few hours to complete.

Once your listings have downloaded, you can create products from them.

Creating products from a spreadsheet import

If your best product data is in a spreadsheet, you need to format it to match StoreFeeder's product format before importing.

  1. Navigate to the Import/Export Product page from the dashboard.
  1. From the Export page, select the fields you want to include using the Fields to Export dropdown, then click Download Template.

To create a product, you need at minimum:

  • SKU — the product code you assign to the item
  • Name — the product name
  • Price — the retail price
  • Warehouse — must match a warehouse already set up in StoreFeeder (find your warehouse name under Settings > Warehouse Management > Warehouses)

Selecting just these fields and clicking Download Blank Template produces a template like this:

  1. Fill in the template with your products. Save the file as .xls format.
  2. Go back to the Import/Export Products page, click Import (Create New) in the left navigation, and select your file using the Select File button.

StoreFeeder automatically maps each spreadsheet field to the correct StoreFeeder field. If the mapping is incorrect, adjust it manually using the dropdown fields.

Warning: Be careful with the Create New Items switch. This switch controls whether new fields can be created in StoreFeeder — it does not refer to the products you are importing. Leave this set to No to avoid creating duplicate fields.

  1. Check that all the information is correct, then click Import.

Your products are now created in StoreFeeder.
