Create Shipping Methods, Regions and Rules for Orders
Overview
This article explains how to set up shipping methods, regions, and rules so that StoreFeeder can automatically assign shipping services to your orders.
Before you begin
- Complete your courier integrations before working through the tasks in this article.
- Test all couriers — a test label and, where applicable, a test manifest must be successfully created before you proceed.
- Shipping rules operate on a per-order basis, not per item.
Task 1: Create shipping methods
Shipping methods define the specific services you use to despatch orders, along with their relevant service codes.
For example, if you use Royal Mail and vary the service based on order value, you might set up:
- A method for orders under £20 using Royal Mail 2nd Class
- A method for orders over £20 using Royal Mail Tracked 24
See the Creating Shipping Methods guide for full details.
Task 2: Create shipping regions (optional)
Shipping regions let you create custom groupings of countries to use as criteria in your shipping rules.
For example, if you ship to UK mainland and the Channel Islands using the same service, you could group those locations together as "UK & Channel Islands" for use in your rules.
See the Creating Shipping Regions guide for full details.
Task 3: Create shipping rules
Shipping rules automatically assign a shipping method to an order based on criteria such as channel, order total, order weight, and shipping region.
For example, a rule could be configured as:
- Name: Tracked 24hr
- Channel Type: eBay
- Channel: All
- Channel shipping method: All shipping methods
- Order Total (£): Min. 20.00, no maximum
- Order Subtotal (£): No min, no max
- Shipping Cost (£): No min, no max
- Order Weight (KG): No min, max 2.00
- Shipping Regions: UK mainland + Channel Islands
- Shipping Method: Royal Mail Tracked 24
With this rule, any eBay order (regardless of the chosen channel shipping method) with a total over £20, weight under 2 kg, and delivery to the UK mainland or Channel Islands is automatically assigned Royal Mail Tracked 24.
See the Creating Shipping Rules guide for full details.
