Why are my Shopify categories not Importing?

This article explains why automated Shopify collections do not import into StoreFeeder.

Cause

Shopify supports two types of collections: manual and automated.

Automated collections are applied to listings automatically based on criteria such as tags. Because these are applied automatically, you cannot manually assign them to listings, so StoreFeeder does not import automated collections.

Fix

If you want your categories to import into StoreFeeder, convert your collections from automated to manual in Shopify. Manual collections let you choose which categories to apply to each listing, but they will no longer apply automatically based on rules.

Categories are not required in StoreFeeder, so converting collections is optional. For more information about automated collections, see the Shopify help documentation.
