Overview

This article explains how to connect your Shopify store to StoreFeeder using a custom app that you own. This method is recommended for advanced users, agencies, or sellers who require full control over app permissions and credentials.

Before you begin

To access your full order data, your Shopify website must be on the Grow plan or higher.

You will also need:

  • Access to your Shopify admin
  • Permission to create and install custom apps
  • Access to StoreFeeder with permission to manage integrations

Connecting Shopify to StoreFeeder using a custom app

Step 1: Create a custom app in Shopify

  1. Log in to your Shopify admin.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Select Apps.
  4. Select Develop apps.
  5. Select Build apps in Dev Dashboard.
  6. Enter an app name β€” StoreFeeder is recommended.
  7. Select Create.

Step 2: Configure API permissions

Scroll to the Access section and enter the required API scopes. You can manually select scopes or paste the text below into the scope field, then select the release button in the bottom right.

Required Admin API access scopes:

read_assigned_fulfillment_orders,write_assigned_fulfillment_orders,read_merchant_managed_fulfillment_orders,write_merchant_managed_fulfillment_orders,read_fulfillments,write_fulfillments,write_inventory,read_inventory,read_locations,read_orders,read_products,write_products,read_publications,write_publications,read_shipping,read_content

Step 3: Install the app

Select the Install button to install the app in your Shopify store.

Step 4: Copy your app credentials

From the app's API credentials section, copy:

  • Client ID
  • Client secret

You also need your Shopify store name, which is the subdomain of your Shopify URL. For example, if your URL is https://example-store.myshopify.com, the store name is example-store.

Step 5: Connect Shopify in StoreFeeder

  1. Log in to StoreFeeder.
  2. Go to Settings > Integrations.
  3. Select Shopify.
  4. Enter your store name, Client ID, and Client secret.
  5. Select Connect using my custom app.

StoreFeeder authenticates the credentials and tests the connection.

After connecting

Once connected:

  • Products are available for import
  • Orders can be downloaded into StoreFeeder
  • Stock and fulfilment updates can be enabled

Additional Shopify settings can be configured within the StoreFeeder Shopify integration page.

Troubleshooting

If the connection fails:

  • Confirm all required API scopes are enabled
  • Ensure the app is installed in Shopify
  • Verify the store name does not include .myshopify.com
  • Check that the Client ID and Client secret were copied correctly
