International listing translation methodologies

Overview

This article describes the main methods for creating international listings in StoreFeeder for sellers whose target audience speaks a different language.

If your source language matches your target audience's language, this article does not apply to you.

Method 1 — Direct listing through StoreFeeder

  1. Add the international channel via Settings > Integrations > New Integration and enable all import and sync settings.
  2. Create listings in the usual way — either from the product page or using the Bulk Listing tool on the Listings tab.

Translating titles and descriptions:

  • Individual listings: Translate the title and description before saving and uploading. Many sellers use Google Translate or similar machine translation tools.
  • Bulk listings: After listing, use the Listing Import/Export tool to export your listings with title and description columns. Update the translations in bulk in the spreadsheet, then re-import using Update Existing to apply the changes.
  • Professional translation service: List all items in English directly and apply translations by CSV via the Listing Import/Export tool. Your provider should return a spreadsheet with translated titles and descriptions that you can import to update your listings.

This approach gives you full control and ensures all listings are mapped to products for accurate order processing.

Required integration settings:

  • Import Orders — On
  • Send Despatch Notifications — On
  • Listing Inventory Updates — On
  • Update Listing Prices — On
  • Automatic Listings Download — On

Method 2 — Third-party listing translation services

Behaviour depends on the service you choose. Many charge a percentage of each sale, so review pricing carefully before committing.

Some services such as Webinterpret control stock levels independently, which can conflict with StoreFeeder's stock control. If this applies to your service, refer to the Webinterpret article for specific guidance.

You can choose to map the translated listings to your StoreFeeder products so that order processing works correctly, or leave them unmapped and process orders as unrecognised. In either case, disable inventory and price syncing in the integration settings for that channel to avoid conflicts:

  • Import Orders — On
  • Send Despatch Notifications — On
  • Listing Inventory Updates — Off
  • Update Listing Prices — Off
  • Automatic Listings Download — On
