Warehousing - Aisles & Levels Functionality
Overview
The Aisles & Levels enhancement allows you to classify stock locations by their physical accessibility.
This means you can assign ‘levels’ to locations, for example, ones that require a ladder or forklift, and then use this information to control how pickwaves are generated.
By setting levels, you can ensure that pickers are only directed to locations they can safely and efficiently access.
Setting Levels for Stock Locations
First you need to enter your level ‘tags’.
This could just be ‘Level ‘, ‘Level 2’ etc based on the shelf number, or it could be based on accessibility requirements, e.g., ‘Ladder’, ‘Accessible’, ‘Forklift’.
You do this by going to the ‘Stock Locations Overview’ page, where you will see the new ‘Stock Location Levels’ tab.

Here you can use the ‘+ New Level’ button to add new levels.

Then select the ‘Warehouse’ you are working in, and add the name of the level.
You also need to assign a ‘level order’. Much like location orders for stock locations, the level order gives a default priority order to the levels.
For example, you may want to prioritise like this:
- Accessible
- Ladder
- Forklift

Now you are ready to add this level information to your stock locations.
Applying Levels to Stock Locations
Step 1: Access the Stock Locations Overview
- Navigate to ‘Stock Locations Overview’ page.
- Locate the stock location you want to update and click ‘Edit’.
Step 2: Assign a Level
- Specify the ‘level’ based on accessibility requirements.
- Save the changes.

This will now save your ‘level’ to the stock location.

Bulk Updating Levels
If you have multiple locations to update:
- You can use the stock location import feature.
- Update the spreadsheet with level data for all relevant locations.
- Import the updated file to apply changes in bulk.
Aisles Information
Currently, Aisles are primarily used for reporting and insights. While they can help in analysing stock placement, the key focus for operational control is the Level setting.
Using Levels in Pickwave Creation
Once levels are in place:
- When creating a pickwave, you will now see new options on the ‘Pickwave Creation’ popup.

These new options are:
Level Range – This allows you to specify the level(s) that you wish to allocate stock from for this picker.
Example - If the picker does not have a forklift licence, then you would not select ‘Forklift’ level.

This would remove any picks that would allocate stock from a stock location with ‘Forklift’ as its location.
Set Level Priority – This allows you to change the default priority order of the levels.
So if you want a picker to be sent to locations that need a forklift licence as a priority over stock that may be in an accessible location, you can adjust the priority by changing the toggle to ‘On’ and dragging & dropping the levels.

This ensures that pickers are assigned tasks suited to their access equipment and skills, improving efficiency and safety.
Benefits of Using Levels
- Improved Safety – Pickers are only sent to areas they can safely access.
- Better Efficiency – Reduces unnecessary trips and equipment changes.
- Operational Control – Tailor pickwaves based on staffing and equipment availability.
